QUICK FRENCH
Verbs
A verb is often defined as a word which shows action or state of being, the verb is the heart of the sentence which means a sentence will be meaningless without a verb and recognizing the verb helps in understanding the meaning of a sentence.
Verb conjugation
Verb conjugation refers to how a verb changes to show a different person, tense, number, gender, mood, etc. A conjugated verb is a well-explained verb.
French verbs are conjugated by isolating the stem of the verb and adding an ending, the stem is easily identifiable from the infinitive (a basic form of a verb, without an inflection binding it to a particular subject or tense e.g. let us eat, the word ‘eat’ did not change form, it is in its infinitive form).
The stem DOES NOT change when conjugating, only the endings makes the difference.
