HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR FRENCH BEFORE AND AFTER EXAMS

HELLO,

This article is going to show some ways in which you can improve your french. 
IL try to make this article as brief as possible. I will love to first talk about La Communication Orale which is oral communication in french. 
La Communication Orale is a french course that is taken in all French Departments in Nigeria Universities. The French communication course prepare students to communicate orally in professional and everyday life situations and are designed to develop their language and cultural skills.

The course is really cool because as a French Student you are not learning french to only get good grades and graduate ,remember that your studying a language that you need to speak  . Some might feel that am not been direct in this article but believe me preparing for any french exam does not commence some weeks or months before the exam, you actually learn french from different sources ... you learn from people who speak french, you learn by reading a french novel..... You can say you cant buy french novels or textbooks because you leave in an anglophone country where they are difficult to find and you can also say you don't have access to internet or even say you cant use the internet to download some french songs ,movies or french materials and refuse to ask how BUT you cant say you don't use some products like soaps and toothpastes,you cant say you don't buy electronic appliances ,why then don't you read the user manual                   '' LA MODE D'EMPLOI''?    or even check the french sentences on the product pack?

ATTEND CLASSES AND PARTICIPATE DURING LECTURES


We ask questions everyday ,we ask questions to acquire knowledge,to eliminate confusion,to solve a problem or even guide a conversation to the direction we want it to go.

HOW DO YOU ASK QUESTIONS IN A FRENCH CLASS?

The truth is most french students get really confuse during french lectures but they decide to keep silent because they don't know how to ask in french but some go ahead to ask in English. Asking a question in English is not totally bad because there are some questions you need urgent answers to and you just need to spit em out anyhow but IL give you some reasons why you should ask in french

HOW TO ASK YOUR QUESTIONS IN FRENCH ?

I had this problem in my third year ,i wanted to ask some questions but i couldn't so i decided to write down my questions... how? i used to prepare for the classes so i wrote my questions in my jotter and IL d ask by raising my hand,when called i d saying 

                          "EXCUSEZ MOI MOSIEUR OU MADAME , J'AI UNE QUESTION A VOUS POSER"

Then IL proceed to ask my short question in french after repeating it to my self several times just to make sure i say the words properly , when you ask your question in french you l get your response in french, when you get your response,you listen carefully and take note. You might observe that the lecturer likes saying for example CE QUE, QU'EST-CE QUE,AUTRE , VOILA, EST-CE QUE ...you will do yourself good by learning to use some phrases or words to express yourself ,  ask, then try to understand the meanings,know how and when to use them.


HOW DID I GET HERE?

You'll  get to a level where the urge to communicate in french will increase, that s when you ll begin to enjoy the course, you l read more and you l end up covering the words in your pocket dictionary then you will  get a bigger one. Please note  that reading your dictionary from the beginning to the end does not automatically make you a french guru because 70% of what you read might be forgotten but you will be able to recognize some words later and you will be able to actually use some,most of them just fall off. At this point you are no longer a beginner because you can speak french to an extent and you will now do better in your oral communication exams. 

I STILL NEED HELP

Don't feel you can stand on your own because you cant .. WHY? You need help if you want to use the language correctly for example at this level, when you want to say THIS IS THE WAY OF WRITING in french you might end up say C'EST LA VOIE D'ECRIRE OR C'EST LE CHEMIN D'ECRIRE OR EVEN C'EST LA ROUTE D'ECRIRE . You know some french words and expressions but you need help when it comes to using them properly . If you don't speak or ask questions ,you will remain stagnant and puffed up with pride and that will hinder your progress,it simply means whenever you try to speak you will continue to repeat this errors till you feel discouraged and finally stop speaking.

I'M ALMOST THERE

How do you know when your improving . YOU WILL BE ABLE TO EXPRESS YOURSELF IN FRENCH ,YOU MIGHT NOT SAY EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT BUT YOU WILL DEFINITELY PASS YOUR MESSAGE.
At this point your academic performance will be better because for you to express yourself orally then your written aspect will not pose much of a problem because when writing, you have enough time to think,cancel and even reconstruct your write up . At this point, you still need to work on your accent and you also need to listen to french programs,interviews e.t.c because there is no better way to learn a language than to hear the native speakers use it.


TEACH ANYWHERE

I DON'T KNOW IF YOUR STUDYING OR  YOU STUDIED PURE FRENCH OR FRENCH EDUCATION ,YOU NEED TO LEARN HOW TO TEACH FRENCH 

WHY? 

Its simple Because you are not perfect ,when you teach people french, you remember some things and teaching people will force you to keep learning . You can teach anywhere,online or in a class. When you teach people you will become better and you will not regret it especially in Nigeria where french teachers are needed ,no matter the nature of your job believe me if i say YOU MUST TEACH SOMEONE FRENCH
