I would like to learn French in Nigeria. Where do I start from?

The answer to this question depends on what you would like to achieve and your previous knowledge or background of French language.

Do you want to learn to speak,write and use French in real life situations such at work for example?


Well, If u speak French already and you would like to improve and get a recognized certificate, you can follow the steps below:



1.Register for a session(B1 upwards)at any Alliance Française center. 

2.Register for the DELF/DALF exams . Preferably the B1 or B2 level.
 
B1
The B1 would test your understanding on familiar matters, regularly encounters at work, school, leisure, etc.  You should be able to explain how to deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken, produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest. You should also be able to describe experiences, events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

B2
The B2 test would evaluate your understanding of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in your field of specialization.
You should be able to interact with some amount of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party
You're meant to produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options. For example, the advantages and disadvantages of technology.


The certificates are valid and you can use it to work or study in any French speaking country.
