LEARN FRENCH FROM FRENCH MUSIC

Music is one of the few activities that involves using the whole brain. It is intrinsic to all cultures and has surprising benefits for learning language because one  can learn in a relaxed state and it also helps to increase ones love for a particular language as a result of ones exposure to the new melodies and pattern of music.


Learn  French language from listening to French music ( HIP HOP)

            There are different genres of music like Jazz,Rock,Hip Hop,Pop just to mention a few. Let's take a quick look at French Hip hop and see how we can learn from them.

French hip hop is the hip hop music style which was developed in French-speaking countries. Its popularity was primarily due to the presence of a large African and Caribbean community in France, and has established the second largest hip hop market in the world after the American hip hop scene. There are many French artist but were just going to talk about few of them and then see what lessons we can derive from listening to their songs linguistic wise.



IAM


1AM (pronounced as English "I am") is a French hip hop band from Marseille, formed in 1989, and composed of Akhenaton (Philippe Fragione), Shurik'n (Geoffroy Mussard), Khéops (Eric Mazel), Imhotep (Pascal Perez), and Kephren (François Mendy). 'IAM' has several meanings, including 'Invasion Arrivée de Mars' ('Invasion from Mars', 'Mars' is frequently used as a metaphor for Marseille in IAM's songs). Another meaning is Imperial Asiatic Man, while AKH often refers to L'homme Impérial Asiatique.

It is always advisable to check for lyrics of  French songs for new words because rap songs can be really fast but no doubt we enjoy the rhymes when listening as you can see at the end of every line in the image above but we can also pick my new words from there too.

This guy is my favorite simply because he has many nice tracks and you can never get tired of listening to his songs


You can enjoy his flows and rhymes and of course learn many new words. He can be really fast but for no reason it's easy it understand if you listen properly.

This dude is also dope and you can learn from his tracks . He doesn't rap really fast but his tracks are always clean and on point as he even narrates stories in some . 


I won't be able to mention all in this track but i can't conclude french hip hop without mentioning

Other Benefits of  listening to French Hip hop

You come across some colloquial words, some slang and some verbs you might not find in your dictionary at times

pioncer- to sleep
la tess- hood
la hess- Crisis
Kiffer- to like
Dingue- Crazy
Guedin- Crazy
Niquer- F***

We don't need to use these words but it's just ok to know ,they are French words and there is a high tendency that most French  guys especially on the street would use them and you don't want to get lost in French conversations ,do you?
