SOME BLUNDERS FRENCH BEGINNERS MAKE AND WHY

There are five parts of language development, we have phonology,morphology,syntax,semantics and pragmatics. I don't know which part of french language is giving you headache but i know for sure that as a french language beginner at one point or the other during your language learning process you must fall into the traps of making some of these mistakes.

1. J'AIME TOI

AIME is the 

1. third-person singular present indicative of aimer
2. first-person singular present indicative of aimer
3. first-person singular present subjunctive of aimer
4. third-person singular present subjunctive of aimer
5. second-person singular imperative of aimer

Instead of saying JE T'AIME some say J'AIME TOI simply because of the literal translation of I LOVE YOU but as a french student you must be flexible and you must always remember that you're learning french and not frennglish.

What does it mean to be flexible?

You must be able to adapt/agree and get used to french don't always ask why for example in french the verb POUVOIR is to be able but when conjugated in first person singular, the form will change to PEUX its just like math 1+1=2 if you continue to ask why,you wont make the expected progress. Lastly you must be able to understand the verb and conjugate it anyhow you want....learn to twist it like this..

JE M'AIME/JE T'AIME/NOUS T'AIMONS/VOUS NOUS AIMEZ e.t.c if you can,you will never get confused

2. JE TE MANQUE /JE MANQUE TOI

Remember the first time you wanted to say I MISS YOU in french you probably said JE TE MANQUE or JE MANQUE TOI because of the literal translation of the english phrase I MISS YOU but in french you say TU ME MANQUE it means you use to be part of me but i lack you now ..yea that kind of idea

3. JE SUIS FINI /JE SUIS MANGE

Please if you have said one of these before, don't repeat it because in the process of speaking french,you might begin to insult or curse yourself,your friends or your family members. Instead of saying J'ai fini / J'ai mangé some say Je suis fini /je suis mangé which means i am finished and i am eaten ..it is wrong

4.Je vais à la classe /je suis etudiant de Français

Je vais à la classe is one common blunder french students make because of the influence of english . The correct sentence is JE VAIS EN CLASSE also in french its proper to say JE SUIS ETUDIANT/E EN FRANCAIS
