Why can't i Speak French after many years of study?
I've
met many French graduates who are battling with the problem of not been able to
speak French after many years of study. Before i continue, i would like to
explain what it means to study.
Studying is the devotion of time and attention to gaining
knowledge of an academic subject, especially by means of books.
When
do students study?
- Before an Exam
or Test
Some
students prefer studying a week or two before exams to get good grades while
some prefer to study even before the beginning of the session. There is no need
to judge anyone, these methods work for some and doesn’t for others.
- For proper
understanding of a concept
When
a student is really interested in something, you don't need to ask him or her
to study; he will do it because of the need to understand.
- To explain to
others
Developing
the habit of teaching helps students to improve themselves even though they
don't get paid for teaching their mates or juniors; they refresh their memory
in the process.
Why studying is wrong if you want to speak French?
Most
French students think the reason they can’t speak French is because the
material/teacher isn’t good enough. Or perhaps the language really is
impossible to speak.
Studying a language does
not help in speaking the language because speaking a language is not a what you
get from books, you need to practice and improve your language skills.
Studying a language
helps to improve your speaking but it doesn't help you to begin speaking for
example.
If
you already speak but your conjugations aren’t great or you need to quickly
increase your store of vocabulary about a specific topic, then you need to
study.
What
you need as a French student is confidence.

to get confidence?
